Is it wrong to use mescaline?
Post Body

Okay, so there's this whole discussion about Native Americans and their sacred medicine. I genuinely respect their culture and way of life. However, it seems a bit puzzling to me that they can instruct others not to use something from nature. I understand the concerns about wild hunting of cacti leading to extinction, but what's the issue if I grow San Pedro myself? I do have one growing, and while I acknowledge the potential environmental impact, I'm unsure why it's considered wrong for someone like me to use mescaline without Native American involvement. Some sources compare it to cloning Jesus and worshipping the clone, which, to me, seems a bit far-fetched.

I believe it should be more about respecting the spirit of the cacti. If I use San Pedro solely for spiritual healing, aiming to better myself and indirectly benefit the environment and those around me, is there a moral or ethical dilemma? I don't see a problem with using mescaline as long as it's not for recreational purposes. I acknowledge this might not be the best place to ask, given that many here might just consume it, but I'd really appreciate hearing a Native American perspective on this. I don't have a symbiotic relationship with the medicine like they do, but I'm not looking to sell or use it recreationally, so I fail to see how it could be inherently wrong.

What's your opinion?

Yep. It begins and ends there. Wish I could find the thread from a couple months ago we had on this cause all the old talking points still apply.

Just like all religions they're not a monoliths and the loudest faction are about as representative as Mormons are of Christianity as a whole.
