Overview:
New Chairman Arsène Wenger has made available, the sum of £70mn to be spend by the new manager. At his inaugural press conference, Mr. Intellectual Politics was asked various questions by journalists from the Endeavour, the Telegraph, the Independent and ESPN.
ESPN:
Given the relevative strength of the squad you have inherited, do you feel the team may yet benefit from additional signings?
IP:
I do believe that perhaps there is certainty room for a few additions going forward, I am sure that I will be answering similar questions as the month draws on.
The Telegraph:
Will the team under your management make greater provisions to facilitate British talent?
IP:
This was something implemented by my predecessor and something that I am personally very keen to see continue. I have appointed Aaron Ramsay as club captain, this more than any other of my actions outlines the club's vision going forward.
ESPN:
There has been speculation over the future of Jack Wilshere, with Manchester City quoted as a potential destination. Will yourself comment on the matter?
IP:
Jack is a phenomenal player who has previously had a poor bit of luck with injuries but the medical staff assure me that the worse is behind him. We have received no formal offers and as far as Arsenal is concerned, he will not be leaving this Summer.
The Independent:
Perhaps you could share with us your transfer targets?
IP:
[Laughter.] Perhaps. We're in the market for one or two defensive players, as well as a winger.
