Why is it almost as hard to get treatment for mental illness than it is to deal with the illness?

Just a rant really. I just got of the phone with my hopefully soon to be new therapist and I can't even set an appointment? Huh? I have to attend some kind of open house intake process with others presumably? I have anxiety and this is actually freaking me out. It's hard enough to talk with a stranger let alone talking with one in front of others. Why do they make it seemingly as hard as they can for you to get help? It's crazy. Aside from my in patient stay outpatient has been crap. Long waits, never getting answers, lots of never ending questions leading nowhere.

Mental health is a black hole it seems.
