My friend recently told me that he feels bad about not being able to vote because he plans to end his life in October. He’s been struggling with his mental health for seven years, has no close family, and his relationships are toxic. Despite being on medication and having gone to mental hospitals, he has tried everything and still feels hopeless. We’ve been messaging daily for about five months, and while I know his name and some personal details, I don’t have enough information to provide to the police.
He has tried to end his life before but didn’t succeed, so this is an ongoing issue. I’m unsure about what to do because reporting him might lead to him being angry or feeling betrayed. I contacted one of his mutual friends, but they said they’re not close and couldn’t help much. My friend mentioned that the only thing that might prevent him from ending his life is finding peace, which makes this situation even more challenging. I’m not sure how to put stuff into words idk.
I want to help but don’t know the best way to approach it. What should I do?
