How should I properly clean my cup?

Post Body

My mother has a little problem with me boiling my cup in the kitchen pots and I just wanna know some alternatives. What I usually do is boil some water and pour it into a little unused insulated mug she gave me to temporarily until I get a pot of my own. After I boil the water I’d plop the cup in for about 10 minutes with a lid on the mug and remove it and insert it after cooling it down with a rinse. I’m wondering if it’s the same thing as boiling in a pot, would it make a difference? Ordering a cup cleanser/steamer/wipes online would be a bit of a hassle since we’ve never done it before and it could be costly with shipping and all that. What other alternatives could I use? Is an unscented baby wash okay or should I stick with putting the cup in boiling water?
