Is my technique for taking it out bad?

So I'm halfway through my first week of using a Honeypot menstrual cup and so far it hasn't gone as smooth as I was expecting. My first few times getting it out was stressful and painful but I found a method, I'm just concerned I'm not breaking the seal right. I have a large belly and small fingers so gripping the cup has been very difficult. My method so far for getting it out is to use the stem to pull it a bit down while pushing so I can grip the base, then slowly wiggle it out. But I was curious as to whether or not I'm even pinching it enough to move the rim in at all, so with the cup outside of my body, I pinched just the tip like I have been and the rim still stayed a circle. I don't think I've been breaking the seal! When I wiggle it out I definitely feel a change in air pressure and a popping/ almost farting noise and it doesn't hurt in my vaginal canal, nor do I feel suction but am I not doing it right? Do my short fingers just keep this from being a good option for me?
