Itās casual Friday so in order to further the never ending quest to vex my boss I decided to wear one of the most formal outfits I own. This combination is called a stroller suit or stresemann. It is the traditional daytime equivalent of a tuxedo, being the āyounger brotherā of full morning dress. It is essentially formal morning dress with the morning coat swapped out for a tailored jacket.
The jacket is question is pulled from my black suit. Itās in a fine herringbone wool with peaked lapels and no vents making it a very formal piece. My waistcoat is vintage from the 1930s. Itās short and has a 6x3 double breasted closure. Itās made of a dove grey moleskin. My slacks are a dark grey glencheck, a sightly more modern alternative to the traditional cashmere striped trousers.
Iām wearing a vintage wedding tie in an old birdie knot. My shirt is a white French cuff from Jos.A.Banks. In it I have a pair of vintage onyx and mother of pearl snap cufflinks from the 1920s. Oh my right pinky I have a sterling silver ring with onyx and mother of pearl inlays to match the cuff links. In my chest pocket I have a white silk pocket square and in my left lapel a cream edelweiss boutonniere, both from from Fort Belvedere. My shoes are black cap toed oxfords from Berwick and my socks are grey with black and white clocks from Fort Belvedere.
