My experience with 145 IQ (beyond gifted)
Post Body

I was IQ tested at age 12 with 145 IQ. I would have known i was smart anyways, reading about philosophy from age 10 as well as reading books from Hemingway, Camus and Ellison at age 11. I was studying advanced algebra at age 13 and 14. At age 16 I got a 34 on the ACT after taking the test a second time, further validating a high score. I spent 4 years attempting to get an electrical engineering degree from Washington University in St. Louis. I didn’t have the patience or drive to complete even a little bit of the high level math class Signals and Systems. I didn’t have the patience to get a passing grade in the electronics and electrical networks lab. I did well in the math classes. I got a B from Calc I to Calc III. I cheated my way through Differential equations and engineering math, a math class that teaches Z transforms and laplace transforms. Since age 15 I learned much of what I needed to know for audio electronics repair since I’m an audiophile and music lover. I spent 7 years working out of my parents garage while I went to highschool and then college. After I dropped out of college I moved to ohio to take up an audio electronics job with a high status audio electronics repair company. The company went under and I found a job with another high status audio repair company but was let go because I didn’t know enough to do it at the level the owner wanted (but also crippling panic attacks, having to do with my bipolar 1) also: I have ADHD. It’s been 3 months out of work and it seems the only job that would be a good fit for my skill set is not within reach currently since my anxiety is so bad that I can barely leave my apartment. I may have to move back to St Louis to find a technician role there. So my high IQ didn’t get me anywhere. I read and write quickly and I have a lot of muscle memory with math. I can sing along to a lot of country and soul music, listening to music is one of the primary joys in my life. I can make friends with lots of people fortunately but as for romantic interests i have found that I can’t really do them with someone who is just on a seriously lower level.

I think IQ has a lot to do with intelligence for sure but it doesn’t measure work ethic and consistency and people skills which matter more for success in life. I feel like I can’t find a job that I can enjoy since I dislike repetitive tasks greatly. If anyone out there wants to chat and share their experiences with high IQ intelligence I’m all ears.
