In what world is this gothic ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£
I agree with you that men are still very much sexualized in video games, however why I find it different is because of this: how do we portray the heroic man? Strong, dependable, muscular, which makes sense, they are a hero and they fight often. Now let's looks at the heroic female: strong, dependable, fuckable. The armor should be designed to protect her body, she should probably be ripped AF, if they are someone who wears less clothes there should be real reasons for that. Not excuses to show titty.
It's also important to note that video games will majorly be played by men as long as games are designed for men. If games were designed for everyone, everyone would play. Trust me, girls love video games just as much as men. When we play nearly any video game, we are immediately reminded who made it.
Edit: also I would like to note that in saying the fat and thin characters are not usually leads for males, that's absolutely true!! And I agree with you there. I feel that's a problem on the men's societal image for sure!
And you say these are not unrealistic expectations of people, then your example is literally "look at social media, TV, magazine, etc" examples of everything that is not real reality.

As a woman who cosplays this, it's fun, and it pays too. However, I still wish women were not sexualized in gameplay the way men aren't. For a long time, most games didn't do much to sexualize the man, but go all out on the women. You have fat guys, thin guys, muscular guys. Women generally have the same body types displayed. Tiny waist, big ass, big tits. Often they can't be "too" muscular either.
