Hi all, apologies if this has been asked many times! I'll be taking a trip to Melbourne in a couple weeks from the US, and I am always interested in trying local dishes, as well as more exotic dishes, as well as any recommendations for overall unique dining experiences.
I think authentic is a bit self-explanatory, I'd be interested in trying vegemite, tam-tams, lamington, various meat pies, and things like that. I'm not sure what else I should add to the list beyond that. We're going to get some seafood for sure, so I hear John Dory is popular, and we're going to definitely get oysters and prawns. I also hear the lamb is great, so any recommendations for places that can make a good rack of lamb would be greatly appreciated!
As for exotic... I guess coming from the US we get a bit of everything, but I haven't had kangaroo(typical of a tourist to ask for I'm sure), wallaby, or any of the game meats in Australia, nor have I had witchetty grub or green ants, or any native fruit and vegetables unique to Australia. But for these, I'd appreciate any recommendations for trying out some of the more exotic dishes, and I'm also open to suggestions to other types of dishes as well!
Thanks in advance!
