So I (31M) am thinking about a career change into truck driving.
I have a hospitality background having worked in a bar, kitchen and most recently a hotel. Currently, I am working in a call centre due to the Covid-19 crisis. However, I don't have a passion for it. I've been doing this for nearly 12 years and my patience for apologising for things that aren't my fault has worn thin.
I used to work part time for drive yello as a food delivery driver and loved it. I enjoyed driving around listening to the radio. I'm an introvert and liked the minimal interaction with people. Most of all, I just find driving relaxing and would like to turn it into a career.
So where I'm at is wondering how to do so. Do I book into one of the driving schools here, get my HR license and then just apply online for jobs? Or is there another way to do it? Is it likely I will find something with any experience?
Any help is appreciated.
Edit: A couple of posters have already mentioned the pay. This doesn't really bother me nor do the hours. I have worked 10 years in hospo after all.
