Does anyone know what could cause this? The lab assistant said when they were attempting a blood draw they apparently missed but didn’t notice (this is a sodium citrate tube so there was a discard tube used, there would have been blood initially). The tube is filled with this very viscous plasma coloured liquid that was becoming more thick to the point it was almost solid as time passed. The patient was not showing symptoms of edema and had an IV with IVIG running on the opposite arm. 2nd poke was a normal draw.
