Sadly I no longer work with this person anymore, but we were in the same class together and got our first jobs out of school at the same hospital. We became best buds and anytime we were scheduled together you would just hear her infectious laugh from our side of the lab. We were both the kind of techs that could talk, laugh but still be doing our work quickly. The day would flyyyyy by. When we worked off shift and there was just one tech in each department she would walk by mine and just start helping me without even asking and I would do the same. If her machine was down I would make it my responsibility to fix and she would cover my department. It was just easy ya know. If I wasn't feeling it that day and needed a longer break I wouldn't even have to ask. Our job can be pretty monotonous after a while but coworkers like this really make you enjoy coming to work. Which makes it even sadder when they leave :(
Ahh! I love my lab besties. I had two at my last job. They're both 10 years older than me and we just clicked. Similar work ethics and routines that it just flowed to jump in and work closely. Always good company whether we were chatting, laughing way too loudly, or just quietly getting stuff done. And I have one at my current job. She's 10 years younger than me. 😹 Work is not the same without her. We just vibe. 🖤 All of these connections have lead to outside of work friendships and I'm so grateful to have these gals in my life.
That said, I do have to be careful with my lab buddies. All of us are a bit prone to being a bit... Silly. 😅 Not everyone has the same filter. After the first write up, I made sure to never let that happen again. Embarrassing. 😬
