For years I get outbreaks that everyone who has looked at them including medical professionals are sure is shingles. It starts off like a bug bite, gets super itchy, then hurts so bad. I've only ever gotten them on my knee, back of head, and arm. When they swabbed it, it came back as herpes 2. My OBGYN did a blood test because she said that didn't make sense and sure enough it came back positive. Shingles came back negative. I've only ever been with my husband and he doesn't have herpes. Why do these outbreaks look exactly and act just like shingles? I'm so confused. 3 different doctors were confused as well.
Oh also antivirals make it 10 times worse. The ONLY thing that helps is putting lidocaine jelly and a bandaid on it.
