Recurring mono
Post Body

Reaching out to see if any individuals have struggled with what seems to be continuous flare ups of EBV (Epstein Barr virus) or if any medical professionals on here have seen patients with this before and have medical advice for me. I first got mono when I was 20 (now 28F) and was bed-ridden. Got better (I felt) and went back to a PCP 3 years ago because I was feeling extremely fatigued (more than normal but first time I really did anything about it and am in grad school) and the only elevations in extensive bloodwork were the EBV antibodies panel. Diagnosed again. Just felt symptomatic again the past few weeks and same answer, 3 years later. The doctors seem to not really know what to make of it since I’m positive for an active and recent and past infection the way it reads. I cannot understand having this recur and am going to look into an infectious disease specialist. Any ideas? Also I went on a run today and actually feel like it’s been a better week and I can’t possibly be as bad as I was when I was 20 yo, but the bloods were recent from this week so I guess I could just have gotten better at dealing with it. I have never felt as energized and could sleep >8 hours generally and still feel tired during the day, always thought that’s been my baseline at this point. Thanks so much all!
