Hi Drs of Reddit,

I would really appreciate some guidance here. This has been an on-going saga since the Coronavirus pandemic started.

Firstly, it is important to let you know that I am an anxious person. Most of my life I've suffered with what appears to be some form of generalised anxiety disorder - I often catastrophise in my head, I go through bouts of low mood and depression and it can really effect my life. I have also always suffered with health anxiety e.g. cancers. Naturally, the pandemic hasn't been much fun and my mental health has been in the worst place for a good couple of years. 2018 - early 2020 was a really good time for my mental health and I suffered with no anxiety.

So, I'm 25, 5ft 8', 67 kg, I am asthmatic (although mild) and I'm a non-smoker. I also suffer from bouts of GERD and acid reflux, and I'm convinced this can effect my chest/breathing. I did smoke from ages 18 - 22 but have been quit for the last two years. From ages 17 - 23 I did almost no exercise whatsoever, and only in recent years have I tried to reintroduce exercise. At the start of August, I felt a little bit more breathless and was waking up on occasion at night, feeling breathless and tight chested. It was hard to know whether that was from acid reflux or asthma (or both). I went to the doctors and they told me to start an asthma steroid (haven't used one in a couple of years) and I'm now on 1 puff of Clenil Modulite twice a day. I did have blood tests about a month and a half ago and they were all normal.

These are my concerns:

  1. Whenever I stand up after sitting down for a period of time, I get briefly lightheaded for a period of seconds. This dissipates quickly and I feel normal after a few seconds.
  2. As an example, whenever I climb stairs (let's say 60-70), WHEN I GET TO THE TOP and the 'exercise' stops, I experience a similar thing to after I've stood up after sitting for a while. For a couple of seconds, it feels as if I'm slightly lightheaded. Dissipates quickly, never fainted and never had chest pain.
  3. Some days I can feel quite tired but this never usually stops me functioning e.g. doing my work as a PhD student or going for a 40 minute walk. For example, yesterday I walked up a hill which is a mile long... took about 10-15 minutes of cooldown to breath at normal rate.
  4. When I'm sat down, I notice that sometimes my head will slightly bob with my heartbeat. It feels like its rocking/swaying. I did find this thread: https://healthunlocked.com/anxietysupport/posts/134471891/swaying-rocking-in-sync-with-heart-beat

I guess that I'm concerned the combination of these symptoms could be a heart problem, breathing problem or something along those lines. Please advise me.
