Female, age 54, weigh approximately 340 pounds, Caucasian. No current medical conditions, no drug use and non smoker.
I have been having trouble sleeping tonight and figure it's that time of the month. (No periods in over five years but still get PMS).
Got up to go to the bathroom about an hour ago and my heart has been racing ever since. Otherwise feel fine. Would love to ignore it and try to get to sleep but don't want to ignore it if it's a symptom of something more serious that requires immediate medical attention.
Thanks for any advice.
Quick update, I went to doctor's office, they got me in immediately. Doctor took vitals and then called an ambulance. My heart was beating 140 beats a minute, I was in AFib.
At the hospital I was put on an IV drip and admitted to the ICU unit so they could monitor my progress. Thankfully by dinner time my heart rate was back to normal. They kept me overnight to monitor me but after a good night, I was released first thing in the morning when the doctor did rounds. I follow up with the cardiologist in two weeks.
