Hi there, quite an odd question perhaps but what actually is the potential harm in taking an SNRI such as Venlafaxine inconsistently (eg 1-3 times a week)?
When I was taking it for depression (75mg), I noticed that it had quite a strong positive effect on my sexual endurance. I have come off but out of curiosity, I have since taken it on some occasions a few hours before having sex and it still works great for that purpose.
The difference is quite considerable and I was fairly sceptical, so I genuinely don’t think that this is placebo. There are also some SSRI like Dapoxetine specifically for improving sexual performance, so I suspect the mechanism of action is similar.
I’m just wondering if I expose myself to any risk by keeping on doing this? The number one thing always emphasised about antidepressants is that they need to be taken consistently. I’m not currently struggling with depression but enjoy the performance boost. Equally, I don’t want to mess up my brain chemistry.
