I’m considering having surgery for superficial radial nerve (Wartenberg syndrome) and wanted to get some feedback. It’s been a year, and after multiple injections, the issues still haven’t resolved. Two years ago, I had carpal tunnel surgery, and I was told I’d be able to use my hands and type immediately after the procedure. However, that wasn’t the case—it took me about three to four weeks to regain my typing speed and the ability to twist jars, likely because they cut into my muscle during the open surgery.
Now, with this upcoming superficial radial nerve surgery, which will also be an open procedure, the doctor assured me that it’s different from carpal tunnel surgery and that I’ll be able to use my hand immediately. I’m curious if this is accurate. Has anyone here undergone this surgery? I’ve heard the success rate is high, but I need to know what to expect. Specifically, will it impact my ability to type? Will I be able to type right away, or even the next day? I need to be prepared since I have to return to work the day after the surgery. What should I expect in terms of recovery and functionality?
