Higher than normal liver enzymes in blood work
Post Body

Just had a call with a doctor who said based on my BMI (30) they believe I have fatty liver disease. I’m 6’4” and 250lbs, but I’m broad shouldered, lift, play hockey and run. Just finished a half marathon at 1:53. I don’t really drink either.

The doctor I spoke with suspects fatty liver disease because of BMI. BMI says I should be 140-190lbs. At 140 I’d probably be dead and at 190 I’d look like someone in full on starvation. (Why do we still use BMI?)

I take creatine and protein supplements and have for previous blood work which have not had these results.

I will certainly be getting bloodwork again but if it’s not fatty liver disease what else should I suspect for slightly higher than normal enzymes? What can influence results in the short term that I should avoid prior to the next blood test?
