I (26F) recently got diagnosed with PCOS after years of previous doctors brushing off my symptoms as “normal”. After ten years of enduring these symptoms, I found a doctor who listened and actually conducted the testing needed. She found the fun “ring of pearls” in my ovaries, and did the blood work. Thankfully all of my blood work came back normal except for my A1C. My A1C was slightly elevated, she told me the normal range ends at 5.6 and mine is at a 5.8, so I am also prediabetic.
She prescribed me metformin, and I had already been making lifestyle changes that she would want for helping with both the PCOS and pre diabetes.
My mother also has PCOS and is diabetic, however, she has never managed it well and instilled her bad habits into me as a child. I truly want to reverse this and lower my A1C. Just looking for advice in managing PCOS and working to lower my A1C.
