Could Bactrim be causing me to have rashes?
Post Body

Hi y'all. I had a MRSA infection, and was prescribed the antibiotic Bactrim. I've been prescribed it in the past for the same thing. Today is my last day on the antibiotic, I took my first dose this morning, and I'm supposed to be taking my very last dose tonight. A few hours ago, I suddenly started developing rashes, EVERYWHERE on my upper body. I have redness and hives on my right wrist, and left arm, a large rash on my stomach and the top of my chest that goes toward my armpit, left shoulder, neck, and bottom of my chin, and none of these spots have hives (just my arms), but they're red as if I've been sunburnt. And these spots all itch like absolute hell. Worse than a thousand mosquito bites. I'm wondering if this could somehow be a reaction to the Bactrim? I didn't think I could have a reaction this late, after I've nearly finished it, I literally just have one pill left, but I haven't done anything different today from normal. I have clean sheets on my bed, I'm wearing clean clothes with the same detergent I've been using for years. I just got a new tattoo right before starting the antibiotic, but there's no rash there or anything, and I think it's unrelated, but it's very new, so I thought I'd bring it up just in case. I don't take any medications, except testosterone enanthate intramuscular injections, and my last injection was three days ago. I haven't really been out in the sun or anything, though I'd been sitting by the window for a few hours while I'm at work, and that's where I was when I first noticed the rashes, and it started with the one on my stomach, then my chest and neck, and so on, and I'm continuing to have rashes gradually appear in more spots. I can't leave work, but I get off in an hour and a half, and I intend on taking some Benadryl and dabbing calamine lotion on my rashes to hopefully ease the itching when I get home. Also, if you're wondering why I didn't just call the pharmacist, by the time I noticed the first rash my pharmacy was already closed, as well as almost all of the other pharmacies, and the one that WAS open (when I started suspecting the Bactrim could be the culprit), told me they couldn't give me any advice because they didn't prescribe it to me. I'm not sure what to do, or if it's even the Bactrim, but it's the only thing I can think of. I'd feel really funny just skipping the last dose, because like I said, it's the very last dose, and up until a few hours ago, everything went smoothly and as normal. I guess what I'm asking, can rashes be a side effect to Bactrim, and I'm sure it doesn't normally happen so late, but like, can reactions like this happen at the tail end of taking the antibiotic? (Also if anyone can tell me if there's anything I can do to relieve even a little bit of the itching at work, if there's anything I can do at all, that would be great lol. I have access to a sink and toilet paper, and I might have some stuff in my car because I carry around a lot of random crap. I'm not sure if there's anything useful in my first aid kit, but I have one).
