Hi all. About a week ago, a piece of one of my front, bottom teeth chipped off. About half the chip was grey (none of my teeth are visible grey, at least from the front). I made a dentist appointment right away, but I moved to a new state, so my appointment won't be until the end of this month. I take care of my teeth, and see a dentist yearly, and they always tell me that my teeth look great and everything (they only complaint they really ever have is that they want me to brush around my gums more, but that's been painful for me since I was a kid, so I still sort of struggle with it). Well anyway, as the week progressed, another little piece of my tooth chipped away, presumably from the same area, and just the other day, a long, very grey chip came off while I was out fishing. I can feel with my tongue on the back of my tooth where these chips came off, there's a (painful) hole where the initial chip came off, and I can feel the line where the other chip came from. And it hurts, especially when I accidentally brush my tongue against the hole the wrong way. I wanted to know, is there any way that I can prevent my tooth from chipping any more than it already has? And does anyone know WHY this might be happening all of a sudden? And what they might have to do at the dentist to fix it? (I was looking online, originally trying to figure out why the chip was grey, and all I keep finding is that a lot of the time they do root canals on grey teeth? Am I going to have to have one of those done? I've heard they're painful 😰 but everyone keeps telling me they'll probably just fill the hole in). Also I wanted to mention, I haven't been able to see the damage to my tooth. I've tried to see back there in the mirror, and I've made an attempt to take a picture, but to no avail, so I have no idea if the back of my tooth is grey in that spot, or if it's JUST within the areas where I had the chipping occur. Well, any answers are appreciated, thank you in advance!!
