TW death - question about ET tube fluid cause/identification
Post Body

My younger brother passed away earlier this year and I recently got his medical chart from that night. When reading it it all pretty much bad sense except for the comment that after placing an ET tube, it kept filling up with brown liquid. There wasn’t really any follow up to that statement anywhere. I did do some googling and I couldn’t find any similar cases or anything that helps me understand what that was and what had happened.

I am just curious as to what the liquid was/what happened.

For context, he passed from a sodium nitrite overdose, which essentially doesn’t allow the body to carry oxygen anymore. He had arrived unconscious and was given one dose of methylene blue. He had no injuries external or internal. Also if there’s a better place to post this question, let me know. Thanks in advance.
