Mildly elevated amylase and lipase, 4 years recurrent osmotic oily diarrhea, just tested positive for SIBO….is that cause the enzyme elevation?

Post Body

28 male, never drank or smoked. No family history of pancreatic issue beyond one family member being type 1 diabetic. Doc ran tons of bloods regarding my diarrhea and only found a few oddities;

Low b12 (negative pernicious anemia) Low vitamin D Amylase 154 lipase 156 Negative celiac Negative fecal calprotectin Normal CRP and ESR Positive SIBO

Now I understand SIBO often causes the osmotic/fatty diarrhea I get about once a month. It also is well known to cause the deficiencies in the vitamins I’m low in. But the pancreatic enzymes… I’m concerned about that. Everything I’ve found says they are exclusively elevated in pancreatic issues and nothing else. It also says they CAUSE SIBO. But I’m young, never drank and have no history of pancreatic issues. Also no upper abdominal pain. Only cramping in lower left before the blowouts once a month.

Overall I guess I’m just worried about chronic pancreatitis or another pancreatic issue. Why else would my amylase and lipase be elevated double the normal limits for my lab nearly?

Worth a note they were flagged from a blood draw only like 26 hours after a bout of the diarrhea.
