Hello r/medical! I’m a 37 F with a history of blood draws and iv starts being a problem. I’ve been told that my veins are deep, rolling, and full of valves. It’s usually a 3 poke minimum and I almost always get sick and feel like I’m going to pass out.
I have one spot on my right arm where draws with a butterfly will usually work, and another spot lower on that arm where a pediatric iv will usually work. I’ve been told multiple times by multiple people that if I have an accident and end up in the er, I will almost certainly wake up having had an IO.
Is there any way to make blood draws go better or to get other sites on my arms to be more cooperative?
Edit: I got my own age wrong. 🤦🏻♀️
