Hey nerds,

Round 1 was very short lived due to the limited quantity available. However, there was a ton of interest in the sockets, so I'm running another GB for all you nerds who missed out.

IC Form: https://goo.gl/forms/1cDrTHOuIWbioe1g1 (please don't respond if you've already filled it out)

Facts:

Product: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=7305&keywords=7305-0-15-15-47-27-10-0&pkeyword=7305&v=

  • No MOQ. Technically the MOQ is 2,500, but we'll hit that easily.

  • Price is $0.24 USD per socket. Base is 0.21190. 6% for tax, 0.01 cent for disaster planning and extras. I contacted several distributors and they all offered worse prices than what's listed on Digikey... including Digikey themselves lol.

  • Orders are limited to 500 per order. This is because it's cheaper to purchase them directly if your order is over 500.

  • Shipping CONUS is $4 dollars per order, regardless of quantity. (Shipped first class, but I also need to grab some bubble mailers and baggies). I will be shipping directly to whatever address is attached to your PayPal email. Make sure it is up to date before paying the invoice.

  • Leave your address at the bottom of the form for a quote on international shipping.

  • Fulfillment will not be immediate. ETA 2-3 weeks of processing.

  • GB will run from 09-03-2018 to 09-07-2018. If, for whatever reason, a few people want the GB extended for a few days, that's a-ok with me.

Some notes from my usage of the sockets:

  • They're tiny little bastards. Annoying to work with but OH SO GREAT once they're soldered in. I recommend putting them onto the switch, then putting the whole shebang onto the PCB. The switch keeps the sockets aligned and snug while you solder.

  • BUY MORE THAN YOU NEED, you will inevitably fuck up a few of them. I messed 3 up.

  • Less is more. Don't add too much solder.

  • Box switches are tight as heck. First insertion :lenny: is really annoying, but successive insertions with the same switch are much easier. Outemu Sky, Zealio, and Cherry Red switches seem to be fine.

  • Pictures (with commentary): https://imgur.com/a/uN1HhPC

  • I also have some pictures of my Helix build I can show off if you want more pics.

  • IF YOU'RE USING A REVERSIBLE PCB, don't accidentally put 4 switches in backwards. Just, you know, a random warning for no reason at all.

Thanks for reading, and big thanks if you plan on participating!
