So i just have picked up a 1994 ford ranger, it had overheated and was steaming, we put a good bit of cold water on the engine, I realize now we should not have done that.. Tomorrow I plan to drain the radiator and put in a new thermostat in it, so the overheating shouldn’t happen. Is my trucks engine fucked by putting the water on the engine block, a few times with engine on and some with car off? We probably will have it taken to the shop too for any necessary tune ups, please help me out! The car still drove fine the last time we turned it on and pulled into a parking lot, so I don’t think the head gasket is done for, but am I in big trouble? And would driving it after putting new thermostat in be alright?
