GDI engines ?

I currently have a 2013 Kia Rio LX which is a GDI engine. 88,000 miles. It’s burning through oil without a leak and without smoke. I get I prob have to use a better oil- but this is more about my next car. I do not want GDI as I do not want this issue. Looking into the Toyota Corolla hatchback- does this use GDI? I can’t tell on their website. Any insight would be helpful.
