A little backstory, I grew up always loving cars. My grandfather and my uncle were both ASE master technicians, and I loved hanging out working with them and so I picked up a plethora of knowledge from them, and always thought it's what I wanted to do when I got older, but they would always tell me that I don't want to be a mechanic, that I should do something else. So I became a truck driver for a while and even talking to the mechanics in our shops about how I really always wanted to do what they do, the general consensus is "if this is something you enjoy, you really don't want to do this for a living" Well fast forward, I'm now looking to make a career change at 33 years old and I still enjoy wrenching and think I'd be pretty good at it. Should I listen to my family and the advice of most mechanics I've talked to and just stick to it as a hobby if it's something I enjoy? Does doing this day in and day out cause you to "fall out of love" with it?
