Second life for oak cubes in bourbon tincture?
Post Body
Not that it's hard to get new cubes...
But I just pulled some oak from a nectarine melomel after 3 months of aging, and I'm wondering if I could toss the cubes in bourbon and use the resulting tincture for balancing later on. Maybe toast the cubes a bit beforehand?
Or is the flavor totally spent at this point?
I suppose I could try it and if the flavor is spent then the worst that happens is end up with the same bourbon I started with.
