I recently started a pineapple melomel, and have been aiming for something dryer. I used 3 lbs honey, ~64 oz pineapple juice, topped with water, and 1118. After flying too close to the sun in a gallon carboy, I had two mornings where I woke up to a bubbled over mess. After transferring to a wide mouthed one gallon jar, I have lost a fair bit of mead. (I can add pictures once I’m off work)
So my question: How do I make up for what I lost? My concern isn’t necessarily the headspace/oxidation, I just want more final product. I’m hesitant to add more honey, juice, or water, as I don’t want to screw with my gravity readings. Should I just cut my losses and have a smaller batch or is there a way to recoup what I lost?
