So i've been doing my first batch using the TOSNA method and my fermentation is stalling at the same gravity as my usual batches, but at a faster rate which was part of the desired outcome. However, all my batches stall at 1.050.
Volume: 1 gallon3lb raspberry honey
starting Grav: 1.130Yeast, 5g lalvin EC-1118
1/3 sugar break 1.085
Fermaid O: total 4.5g split in 4 (1.1g) additions 24, 48, 72h after pitch, then at 1/3 sugar.
Average incubation temparature is 18-22 Celsius
Rehydration in Goferm was not used, it's the next variable i want to try out.
As you can see in the graph, i reached 1.055 gravity at the 14 day mark, but it has fairly stalled for the last 7 days. it's a common problem i'm getting with my fermentations.
I'm exploring the ideas of perhaps adding another fermaid O addition at 14 days. I also have yeast nutrient from carlson labs available, but i've seen very variable opinions on that product.
I'm truly unsure why my fermentations don't go lower than that, i feel EC-1118 should be able to go all the way.
Edit: My goal isn't necessarily to have a higher ABV mead (which i won't say no to) i'm just wondering why it'S stalling so "early"
