I have done quite a number of Ketamine sessions in a clinic under supervision. They were profound and drastically reduced my depression.
I have a number of compounding traumas and I would like MDMA to be the healing tool / aid going forward. I cannot do this in a clinical setting yet as it's still not available in Canada and when it is the costs will be "astronomically" out of my budget.
I am 43M, roughly 224 lbs and healthy...
As stated above I have traumas. I am currently off work from having cancer and severe medical trauma.
if someone is kind enough, I have questions plz:
how long does an experience usually last?
How much would be a recommended approximate first time dose that would be considered both useful and safe?
Would it be wise to have a trip sitter with me or at least in my home?
Is it likely I may experience things that are frightening or would appear harmful?
Do I have to be motionless during the experience? Is it best to sit or lay down?
Are there any potential health detriments to consider?
I have the eye mask, music and I will prepare my bedroom to be very calming.
My concerns are water intake. I was planning on having an electrolyte drink on hand.
To date I have done 16 ketamine sessions intermuscular. I never once had a bad experience and I feel that I not only surrendered in every setting, but I flourished and gained profound insight from each and every session. I wholeheartedly feel that I could continue my ketamine sessions with absolutely no supervision on account of how safe and secure I experienced ketamine.
I appreciate anyone who is kind enough to give their time to answer these questions, or if someone could point me in the direction of where I could obtain this information.
Also, is there MAPS protocol available somewhere?
Thank you so much
- how long does an experience usually last?
Taken orally, MDMA typically lasts about 4 hours. You can safely extend this to about 6 hours with a single redose of half the original dose taken at approximately 90 minutes after ingesting the initial dose.
- How much would be a recommended approximate first time dose that would be considered both useful and safe?
Dose (mg) = body weight (in kg) x 1.5
Or you can take the unofficial standard 120mg dose with an optional 60mg redose.
- Would it be wise to have a trip sitter with me or at least in my home?
Trip sitters aren't strictly necessary for MDMA in the way they're encouraged for psychedelics like LSD and psilocybin. You're unlikely to have a scary or intimidating experience you'll need a guide to help get you out of.
That said, therapeutic outcomes tend to be better when the patient has a trained or experienced therapist or shaman to guide them.
- Is it likely I may experience things that are frightening or would appear harmful?
MDMA typically makes people feel unambiguously happy and safe. However, if you're taking it for the purpose of confronting difficult emotional issues, especially past trauma, then of course there will be some emotional challenges.
- Do I have to be motionless during the experience? Is it best to sit or lay down?
Most MDMA therapy is conducted with the patient seated or lying down. It's just easier to focus on your thoughts and feelings if you're not also moving. That said, it's perfectly safe to get up and move around if the need or desire arises.
- Are there any potential health detriments to consider?
MDMA is a very safe drug if taken by itself at a reasonable dose in a controlled environment. Test your MDMA ahead of time to make sure that it's really MDMA and doesn't contain any adulterants, especially fentanyl.
MDMA can be neurotoxic if you take excessive amounts or take it too frequently. Do not combine MDMA with any other drugs, especially caffeine.
Hyperthermia is a risk with MDMA so maintain a normal or cool ambient temperature and don't do anything that would cause you to overheat. Do not drink excessive fluids while on MDMA, as MDMA causes fluid retention and excessive hydration puts you at risk of hyponatremia.
