CivRealms is designed to encourage player cooperation as you build your own civilizations from the ground up. Players form their own nations, enforce their own rules, and are responsible for protecting what they've made. You are given tools to help you do these things much better than in vanilla minecraft, but no protection is absolute here.

Playing as a hermit is an extra challenge compared to other Survival servers. Benefits of a nation:

• Shared history and experience

• More easily repel or capture random griefers

• Build and protect a secure prisoner vault, or negotiate your release if you've lost a fight

• Ready access to the separate, richer mining dimension through limited portals that are usually controlled by nations
