Using Google Maps on Mazda3

I am pretty much in love with the Mazda 3 sedan. The only issue I have with this vehicle is that the screen is not a touch screen.
I primarily use the touch screen with Android Auto to look at Google maps while driving. Is it convenient to use the maps using the dial?
