Why do random encounters have to be combat?
Post Body

When I was watching the new overland movement video it seemed to imply that if you got a random encounter as a result of getting from point A to point B, that you would be fighting something then it would be over with.

I object to this idea and I think everyone's games would be better if we added non combat encounters to our tables. I've added things like entire dungeons, portals to the feywild, goblins in the middle of sacrificing the blacksmith's daughter on top of the standard 2d4 troglodytes.

The goal here is to make overland movement feel like skyrim, where there's crazy shit happening everywhere, you just have to find it. I'll post more elaborated thoughts in the comments if this is received well, but I have to get back to work
