Started with -800, then you get 1000, bought the cow for 1100 now you’re at -100, sell it at 1300 and now you’re at 1200. Since you started at a deficit of 800 and now you’re up 1200 you’ve made a total profit of 2000
He earned $200 each time he sold for a total of $400. But he’s only up $100 over all.

Since the questions is how much did I earn then you have to do the full problem to get the answer. When you start at -800 then sell for $1000 you still have a thousands bucks in your hand. So really the problem ends up being -100 1300=1200. But when u factor in where u started at -800 it becomes 1200 - -800= 2000
