The post a user made about counterfeit lube bought in Amazon made me concerned about some lube that I received recently.

I've purchased the exact same product on Amazon many times, I've even made bulk purchases, and it's always been the had the exact same appearance. My latest order was just one bottle and it looks discolored, or maybe colored is more appropriate because it's always been crystal clear. It's slightly cloudy also.

I looked online for any reason a water-based lube might differ from the usual transparent appearance but none seem applicable. It's been protected from light by the packaging, it's over a year from the expiration date printed on the bottle, I assume Amazon warehouses are temperature controlled, it was an overnight Prime delivery so it wasn't in a hot van all day and the package had a foil seal. Does anyone know why it would arrive in that condition when there's no other indication of a problem?

I bought another bottle from a different brand to use instead (and a little something exciting to make the same day delivery threshold 😈). Here are the two products side by side. The picture exaggerates the difference a bit but you'll see what I mean:
