Thoughts on opening a practice

I work as a contract employee currently and have done this for about 3 years. A few months ago the owner of the practice informed all the MT’s that we would be getting paid 5% less due to inflation and the cost of running the business going up. Unfortunately that 5% is pretty significant for me. I’ve really considered trying to open my own practice closer to where I live but I’m afraid to make that jump and wanted to get some feedback.
