I'm wondering what therapists' views are on charitable massages. It started when a client, who'd really been benefiting from the massages, one day called and cancelled her appointment cause she had just lost her job (and with it her insurance coverage). So I told her to come anyway and we kept her appointments until she got insurance back again. In this case, it worked out because I got to keep a client, but really my intention was charitable as she's an elderly lady with some chronic issues that the massage helped with. Since then I've done this for many other seniors too. But I tell those seniors not to tell their friends about it as I don't want this to get out of hand either (I have bills to pay too).
Do other therapists feel the same way about "giving back to the community"?
