Has anyone recently transferred a vehicle to a family member or had one transferred to them? My parents and I are trying to figure out the cheapest way to transfer the car title from their name into my name and the DMV website was helpful, but I'm worried I'll get there and tack on a ton of extra fees and costs that they don't put on the website (in true DMV fashion). Right now I've figured out that I will have to pay the $100 "gifting" fee and then about $128 or so for the title registration. Does anyone know of any other fees I will incur? I would call the DMV helpline but I'd rather stick my finger in an electric socket.
