The initial idea of the Marvel phases was an excellent one, using each series of films in an individual phase to build to a climax, and have a common theme running through all the movies (phase one being the creation of the hero, phase two learning to work together as a team, phase 3 the loss/redemption of the hero). As each film helped build to the climax, they also gave us great world building and helped a MegaStory come into sight, with each film holding just that tifbit of information yo build upon- but aren't we getting past that?
With the culmination of the Infinity Stones saga, isn't it time to accept there should be/ will be some Marvel films released that help build towards a larger story, and some Marvel films whose story is simply stand-alone, or only focused upon the changes of the hero and not the world? That its no longer needed or necessary to follow every Marvel film, and that people can start cherry picking films to see. In short, shouldn't they stop calling the next blocks of films phases and start calling them runs (or something a bit more clever)?
Curious to hear what others think.
