I liked GotG 2 and I thought it was a very fun movie. However, when the film was leading up to its climax (i.e. saying something was strange about the planet), I immediately thought of Futurama; there's an episode where Leela (an orphan) travels to a planet with one inhabitant. The inhabitant was a male who claimed to be the last of their kind and they should be together to repopulate the planet. With regards to the episode, my memory is hazy but the twist for that episode was that, the planet and "last inhabitant" wasn't as they appeared to be. The last inhabitant was actually a shapeshifter who was pulling this "last of our kind" sex/marriage scam on multiple alien women.
The Futurama episode is : A Bicyclops Built for Two
Of course, GotG 2 is a lot darker but I think it's a unique comparison. Thoughts?
