Question for Wing Chun practitioners (or anyone who knows the answer):
Post Body
Why is the fighting stance for WC the way that it is? I'm talking about the "Ip Man" stance, with one arm extended out, hand open, palm up, while the other hand cups the bicep. That just seems counterintuitive. Like, the style likes to do hand-trapping, but one of your arms is close to you / far away from your opponent's hands. It also leaves you very open.
Maybe there's something I don't know, but the arm position seems weird, and I'm just curious as to what the reasoning behind it is.
