Recently had a hotel stay on a work trip and was pretty surprised with the lack of concern for guest security.
1st night I left my room card in my room and the lounge is on first floor, so I asked for a new room key. Front Desk asked for my last name and room number, and I got a new key. Later on that night I thought it was odd, so I decided to try it again, got the same result: no ID Check, just last name and room number. I did this a total of 4 more times with 5 different front desk employees total.
Then on the morning of check out, I hear a knock and not 5 seconds later housekeeping comes in. I am on the toilet!
Talked to GM on way out who didn't seem super concerned, until I sent an email detailing my experience in much more detail and pointing out the risks associated with the security flaws. Quickly got an apology email and was taken much more seriously.
Just figured I'd share one of my latest experiences.
