I (49m) and wife (41) just recently celebrated another anniversary. This got us to talking about past experiences and relationships. We talked about all of the firsts we’ve experienced together.
I was the first to ever ask her out on a proper date. Meaning I called and asked her if she would do me the honor of accompanying me to dinner and a nice night out.
I was the first to bring her flowers.
She was my first to go out of her way to give me her number.
She was the first that I felt compelled to asked her parents permission to Marry. They were so good to me and I felt I needed that blessing. They also helped plan the surprise engagement.
We were each other’s firsts for wanting to write our own vows and do the wedding our way. I’m biased but ours will always be my favorite wedding. I still look back fondly over it.
She’s the first to ever get me to cry humble happy tears over a gift.
We’re both each other’s first for feeling like no matter where we are, if we’re together we’re home.
TL;DR: what are those moments in your second marriage where you look back and realize they are your first?
