My fiancé (M30) and I (F26) are getting married in the next few weeks. However, we have been arguing a lot about how we will manage our finances. He works as an engineer, while I sell items online. We have enough money to support ourselves, so we decided to have a cheaper wedding to at least get married, as my parents disapprove of us living together before marriage. We truly love each other, but things are getting more complicated day by day.
We each have our own bills and loans to pay, and his family thinks we live a luxurious life. As a solution, after the wedding, we plan to temporarily move in with my parentsâ house and rent out his house so his family can earn money from it. The problem is, my fiancĂ© still wants to give his family money even though we haven't started yet building our own life, such as buying a house.
I am okay with giving his family money, but not as much as they are asking for.
tl;dr: My fiancĂ© and I are getting married soon, but we're arguing about managing our finances. He works as an engineer, and I sell items online. We have limited funds, so we decided on a cheaper wedding. We plan to temporarily move in to my parentsâ house after the wedding and rent out his house to provide income for his family. However, he wants to give his family a significant amount of money, which I think is too much, especially since we haven't started building our own life yet.
