Marriage Advice Needed.
I need some advice, but I feel a crash course in our relationship is needed first, and I’ll try doing this as short as I can / CliffNotes style
- I am 46, she is 35.
- BFF’s before dating.
- We are an attractive, middle class couple (might help?)
- Dating 12 years, married 7.
- Told her I was going to marry her the very first time we met.
- Both have a previous marriage.
- Been Sober for 8 years. (Used to drink beer almost all day long).
- I am a combat veteran (USMC).
- I was never one to really care about feelings / emotion, etc.
- She’s the opposite, the most loyal & loving person that Ive ever met.
- Speaking of loyalty, I have never physically cheated on her. Never touched another female since the day we started dating.
- However, I have done stupid shit like browse dating sites looking at profiles and such. Though never met anyone or anything. Yes I now understand that that in fact is cheating.
- About 2 months ago, I noticed her being more distant… There is no sex anymore, she will barely kiss me.
- I went to her, and told her I want to fix “us” and get back to how we used to be, actually better than that.
- She lost it on me, telling me how for years she dealt with my shitty attitude, lies and rejections… caught me off guard but it was obviously something she needed to get out.
- Since that day, I feel like it’s just getting worse. She says it’s gonna take time to where she can trust me again.
- She used to call and text me all day long, now it’s maybe one call a day and a few texts.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?! She doesn’t wanna talk about anything, she is very distant. She knows how I feel… do I just back off? I really don’t wanna lose her… she’s my person and my soul mate. I will give her time, but there is such little reassurance / effort on her part that it feels hopeless. Thanks in advance for your advice and opinions. -Chris.
