Hey all, Iām looking to make a career switch from coaching / athletics admin to straight athletics marketing.
I work at a place currently where I do the marketing and graphic design ad hoc.
Hereās the problem: in the past six months Iāve probably landed about 18 interviews and most of them Iāve gone on to the final rounds. However, Iāve only got two offers and the feedback is always āthe other person has more experienceā, which I think really more translates to my lack of being able to show my experience in a sophisticated way (ieā industry jargon, etc).
I want this job so badlyā itās a perfect fit for meā itās in the same sport I have coached for 15 years.
The first round of interviews is just a 30 minute zoom call. In my initial resume I sent along my digital portfolio etc. When they set up the second interview there was a line that said basically, ā30 minutes for us to tell you about the organization and ask you questions, you to learn about us, and for us to get a feel for what you think about the role.ā
Iām taking that last piece as an invitation to send a deck over with a basic marketing plan.
Would you guys,
1) not do that because itās too early in the process and wasnāt asked for 2) I should have been doing this all along
And also,
Iām a super creative person and Iām experienced with photoshop. Can I throw photoshopped examples of for instanceā a clothing campaign idea in there to help illustrate points?
Appreciate all your industry help (and any good vibes you can send)!
